Such a fun collaboration I did with my good friends Daniel Dai, DJ Sanchez, and Luke Villapaz on this violin cover of BIGBANG’s “Blue” by Dave Muhn for the 2012 BIGBANG Cover contest.

Ruby and Kevin
It was definitely a huge honor for me to cover Ruby and Kevin’s wedding. We all went to Bishop Ahr high school together and my mom and Kevin’s mom were also classmates in nursing school in the Philippines. As I mentioned in my October 4, 2010 post from their engagement shoot, Kevin was the guy who got me into Adobe Photoshop which definitely plays a role in a lot of what I do nowadays with my photography. This personal connection to the couple made the day even more fun and memorable to cover - I would even go as far to say that it was the best event I’ve covered.
They put a lot of work into their wedding - there was nothing cookie-cutter about it since they literally made everything themselves. From the comic book invitations, the decorations at the reception venue, tailoring on the bridesmaids’ dresses, even making their own backgrounds and props for the photobooth we provided. The list goes on and on…and on.
This is my favorite photo of the day from their formal portrait session after the wedding at Cooper’s Pond in Bergenfield, NJ. Knowing Kevin’s personality I knew he would be up for hanging off of the beam in the gazebo. We were trying to replicate the Spider-Man kiss from the movie but since he was too far up we ended up with this shot instead -=)
Special thanks to Luke Villapaz for assisting me on the day - keeping my equipment close at hand and dumping photos onto my laptop. Definitely a tremendous help which allowed me to not miss a moment!
More photos to come soon…
